The architect Marta Pavan talks about the intervention carried out together with the professionals of Teknopiscine

A swimming pool is not just a tub with a lot of water inside. A swimming pool is much more, but good design and construction professionalism is required to obtain a perfect result.

Not only research of materials and quality of finishes, but also an accurate design that allows a perfect marriage between the design solution identified and the surrounding context.

Teknopiscine designs and builds the best swimming pools in Apulia, because it employs a staff of highly specialized professionals, capable of building unique “turnkey” solutions tailored to the customer.

In the Galante district along the provincial road that leads from Martina Franca (Ta) to Ostuni (Br), the architects of Studio Blu worked in symbiosis with the technicians of Teknopiscine to transform an ancient country residence into a dream location. The architect Marta Pavan – originally from Veneto, but working in Copenhagen in Denmark – was entrusted with the task of designing the redevelopment and renovation of the external part of a complex of trulli, with the installation of a rectangular swimming pool of 40 sq m 3.5 m wide by 11.5 m long, the owners of which had immediately expressed the desire to pursue their passion for swimming and being in the water.

The result was a project full of cultural, stylistic and architectural contaminations, in which the protection of the existing heritage and the use of local materials were privileged, while imagining design solutions that differ from the “already seen” and that led to the realization of a unique intervention for originality, aesthetics and comfort.

We met Marta Pavan to let us tell the details of this intervention

The swimming pool that has been built is positioned on steep terrain to favor the view on a part of the property where there is a valley of olive trees. A naturalistic context has been planned, with a trullo on one side, while on the other side there are almond and prickly pear trees overlooking the large olive grove. The intervention was designed with a combination of old and new, working on the materials and recovering both the existing and the materials of the place, to obtain a result that goes perfectly with the ancient trullo, to create a salt pool of the latest generation.

Simplicity of materials and minimalist lines for a full cultural contamination. Here are the materials used:

  1. Raw stone: stone peel from Trani;
  2. Rock garden: rocky stone;
  3. Colored cement: strong presence of the red color that recalls the color of the red clay of Apulia, strongly ferrous;
  4. Polished and bush-hammered Apricena stone;
  5. Pietra di Apricena levigata e bocciardata;
  6. Metal parts: presence of corten steel elements.

«Working with Teknopiscine means working with professionals in the sector – said architect Marta Pavan – I am satisfied with the result because thanks to them we have been able to satisfy the client’s needs. With Teknopiscine I had the opportunity to create exactly what I had designed with my architectural studio ». Studio Blu is an architecture and design studio based in Copenhagen, Denmark, founded by Marta Pavan and Lorenzo Rossi. The studio conceives architecture as an extension of nature, translating this principle into harmony between the built and the surrounding natural scenery. Light, color, shape and materials are interpreted as architectural elements, modeled around man and his social and environmental needs.

What are the advantages of a saltwater swimming pool?

First of all, a salt water swimming pool guarantees impeccable disinfection of the water. Less chemicals will be needed, such as granular chlorine or tablets, for a much healthier and more eco-friendly impact on the environment.

A real totally natural process: constant disinfection ensures better water quality than manual management and allows you to significantly reduce the annoying smell of chlorine.

Studio Blu by architect Marta Pavan operates between Denmark and Italy. Together with Teknopiscine they worked to build a spectacular swimming pool in Ostuni, Apulia.
