MD Group renews its support for the Flore & Venezia project: because places are not simply spaces to be transformed, but stories to be understood.

Once again this year, we have chosen to sponsor Cantiere Levante, the cultural and artistic project born from the encounter between architecture, art, and the local territory. For us, this choice goes far beyond sponsorship.

The fourth edition takes shape inside a late 19th-century villa currently undergoing renovation, turning a location suspended between past and future into a space for reflection on memory, identity, belonging, and regeneration.

These are values with which we deeply identify.

Places have memory

In our work, we have learned that no project exists without a place. Every place carries a story, materials, a landscape, and traces that deserve to be listened to even before design begins.

This is one of the aspects that brings us closest to the vision of Cantiere Levante.

We do not believe in transformation as the erasure of what came before. Instead, we believe in the possibility of creating a dialogue between memory and the contemporary world—introducing new functions, new technologies, and new forms without losing the original identity.

Artists and the dialogue between Apulia and Palestine

The fourth edition of Cantiere Levante creates a dialogue between Apulia and Palestine through photography, installation, music, and artistic research, exploring themes of memory, identity, belonging, and regeneration.

Among the participating artists are Adam Broomberg and Rafael Gonzalez with Anchor in the Landscape, a photographic project dedicated to ancient olive trees in the Palestinian territories of the West Bank; Mauro Bubbico, Roberto Lenza, and Luca Capuano with Palestine Home Coming, a photographic story dedicated to Dheisheh; and Cesare Dell’Anna, headlining the final evening with Zina.

Particularly significant is the presence of Emily Jacir—a Bethlehem-born artist long connected to the Salento area—with site-specific installations such as Star of Bethlehem and The Hidden Altar, alongside a selection of videos from the Dar Yusuf Nasri Jacir for Art and Research, a multidisciplinary cultural center founded in Bethlehem in 2014.

It is precisely through these artistic languages that Cantiere Levante builds a bridge between two shores of the Mediterranean, bringing to light deep connections between architecture, decoration, domestic memory, music, and visual culture.
